Hi Girls of Summer fans!
After that mean Winter: Come on, Summer! Right?
Meg and I have had an amazing year since Girls of Summer 2013, and we thank you for your support of Girls of Summer and our books, too!
First of all, how about that exciting news that #1 strong girl, Meg Medina won the ALA’s Pura Belpre Award this year for her fantastic novel from Candlewick Press,Yaqui Delgado Wants to Kick Your Ass. Yay, Meg! (We Knew Her When…)
Likewise, I’m very proud to share that my book Come August, Come Freedom (also from Candlewick) won the People’s Choice Award for Fiction from the Library of Virginia. Thank you, good people!
Hey, if you’re anywhere near RVA in the Eight Oh Four, please join us for our 4th Annual Summer Reading Party on Wednesday, June 18, 2014, 7 pm , Main Branch, Richmond Public Library. We’ll be partying with books, buttons, librarians, ice cream (natch) and our freakishly incredible guest author, Hannah Barnaby, author of Wonder Show, a book that Meg and I ADORE.
You know where to be 6/18: Richmond Public Library, 101 East Franklin Street, Richmond, VA. In the auditorium. Think: Circus.
With thoughts of sun, sand, good books, and yes, that gorgeous James River that is calling us to jump in!
P.S. Hannah’s Wonder Show is a little sneak peak of the awesomeness to come for Girls of Summer 2014. Go read it now! Then come back on 6/14, just before the party to see our recommendations for strong-girl reads this summer.

Notes from Gigi and Meg as we hibernate during Winter 2012-13
Hi Girls of Summer fans:
It’s almost time to turn our clocks ahead, and you know what THAT means! Summer is right around the corner.
We’ve had a terrific winter. Gigi released her historical novel, Come August, Come Freedom, and Meg’s new Young Adult novel, Yaqui Delgado Wants to Kick Your Ass, is due in bookstores this month. More important, we have been hard at work getting our new Girls of Summer list together. Expect the online launch of the 2013 list on June 10, 2013.
If you’re anywhere in the mid-Atlantic, why don’t you plan on joining us for the live launch on Tuesday, June 18, 2013, 7 pm? We’ll be at Library Park, right behind the main branch of the Richmond Public Library, 101 East Franklin Street, Richmond, VA.
With thoughts of sun, sand, and good books,
Gigi and Meg
